Stores aren't marking it down as quickly as they used to. It's almost as if they don't want you to enjoy a hedonistic wallow in the 50% off chocolate aisle or something, when really, they ought to be more magnanimous because it's the only thing getting some of us through the winter. In the meantime, it's getting more spring-like here in the sense that while there's still six inches of snow on the ground and it's 34 F, there's also rain and thunder and the occasional warning flicker of a potential power outage.
I'm in the mood for gloomy gothic things: Diane Setterfield's The Thirteenth Tale. I saw the movie adaptation already, but I'm still enjoying the book. The movie has lots of satisfying spooky house pr0n and I recommend it if you like gothic suspense stories about reclusive writers, a ruined house full of secrets, etc. It's not a horror film like The Woman in Black or The Awakening, so no need to worry about those moments where your heart lunges up and wraps itself around your esophagus for comfort.
What have you been up to, flist?
