Chapter 21

Kal sat in a leather upholstered recliner in front of the brand new 60 inch plasma screen TV and played a PS2 game.  It was a highly enjoyable game where he took the part of an alien invader bent on world domination. It amused Kal no end that he actually got points for killing humans.

He wore jeans and a tight black t-shirt, the ubiquitous gray shorts and dark blue t-shirts now a thing of the past.  Kal couldn't convince the colonel to remove the bracelet from his wrist but most evidence of his second class citizen status were now gone.

The narrow hospital style bed was also gone, replaced with a comfortable king sized four poster.  He insisted on an expensive memory foam mattress too, despite the fact that with his invulnerability even a lumpy coil mattress wouldn't have bothered him at all. He adored the bed and how soft it was.  It was like sleeping on a cloud but Kal especially loved how far he could spread out in it, making it easier to soak in the warmth of the sun.

He'd also insisted on high count Egyptian cotton sheets and a down comforter. Not that he ever really got cold or really needed the luxuriously soft sheets; he just wanted whatever he could get that was expensive. Like the thick towels, warm resort quality terry cloth robe and the mini bar. They knew alcohol didn't affect Kal but they'd happily stocked the bar with the most expensive brews and liquors made just to make the alien cooperate. Fools, Kal thought.

There was a rack filled with hundreds of DVDs, including dozens of expensive box sets and special collector editions. Kal wasn't sure he'd ever watch any of them but it was nice to know that they spent thousands to let him have the option.

Even though it might not seem like it, probably the most fun addition was the screen around the bathroom area of the enclosure. Supposedly Kal had asked for it because it would provide extra privacy when he used the facilities or took a shower.  However, Kal enjoyed soaping up seductively while showering to tease the guards who watched him.  He would make sure the screen showed enough of his naked body for the men watching to catch glimpses.

Lex thought Kal's shower-time teases were funny. Kal would hear Lex chuckle even as his heart rate increased almost as much as the others' did.  Kal enjoyed teasing the bastard even more than the nameless others who watched.

Lex had stopped wearing the watch his mother had given him, probably thanks to what Kal told him about being able to hear it.  It didn't matter, of course.  Kal could tell Lex was there anyway.   The small part of him that was still Clark suffered to hear the way his heart sped up when Kal teased him. Clark's desire for Lex was still there, hand in hand with his love.  Kal didn't care about Clark's needs in either regard. Not really. Kal was trying to hurt Lex, despite Clark's distress. He wanted Lex to regret not having the lover that was now beyond his reach.

As for the things, Kal had given the colonel a long list of what he wanted. The man's eagerness to please Kal was disgusting but he was trying to make the best of a bad situation.  Kal didn't understand how Clark COULDN'T try to make things better. The little talk had gone well and the man was willing to give Kal everything he'd asked for.

Well... Almost everything.

When it came time for Kal to be taken back to his enclosure, he had tried to convince the Colonel that he didn't need to be controlled. He tried to tell the man that he was dealing with them so they didn't need the green kryptonite.  Colonel Preskin wouldn't budge so the goons came with huge amulets anyway which caused Kal to collapse with a gasp.  The agony, like always, was almost more than Kal could take. The torment must have distressed Lex because Kal could have sworn he heard the bastard gasp just before he started to lose consciousness.

Kal had woken up on the floor in his enclosure and smiled. He knew that it wouldn't take long for the first items he'd requested to arrive.  He had stood up and waited.

He'd been right. He didn't wait long.

First thing that came was a much better lunch than he'd had previously there.  No meatloaf or hamburgers. He'd asked for gourmet meals and lunch was filet mignon.  The steak was served rare, covered with a tasty mushroom demi-glace. It came with garlic mashed potatoes, asparagus and an ornate chocolate mousse dessert. The dessert was served in a chocolate cup and garnished with chocolate squiggles that stuck up out of the mousse at an angle.  The dessert was so over the top artsy, Kal laughed when he saw it but he ate it anyway. It had been really good.

It took several days for the rest of the stuff to be brought in. And when they wanted to set up the bed and TV, they had to take him to one of the labs where they had an ankle restraint. They locked the hard metal cuff onto his leg and left him there. Even though that made Kal angry, he had frantically tried to break the chain with no luck, in the end it didn't really matter. It was worth the frustration and pain in order to get what he wanted.

He was thoroughly enjoying the more comfortable accommodations.

Colonel Preskin showed up at the entrance to the enclosure and knocked.  One of the changes that Kal had implemented was that people had to knock before they entered his enclosure....

No, make that his room.

Kal didn't even pause the game and growled. "Come in..." The colonel was probably coming in to apprise Kal of the status of the last demand that he had yet to fulfill.

He didn't take his eyes off of the game as he spoke to the man.  "You better be here to give me good news, Colonel."

"Well, Kal. It hasn't been easy.  The Kents' finances are a lot more complicated than we'd anticipated..."

"Why are you bringing this to my attention now?"

"Well, I was hoping that you could fulfill your part of the bargain in the mean time. Time is of the essence."

Kal scowled but didn't bother to look up as he blew away dozens of innocent humans in the game. "I told you that I won't do anything you want until all of the Kents' debts are paid. All of them. You knew that so I don't understand why you're even here."

"Several of the girls are ovulating now... There isn't time to wait."

"They'll be ovulating this time next month, then, won't they? You have me for the rest of my life.  It can wait. I assure you that I won't do a thing for you until I know the Kents' debts are erased... The ball is in your court, Colonel."

The man sighed in exasperation. "Okay, Kal. I'll see what I can do to speed the process..." The man became distracted by the game Kal was playing.

Kal made his character, a small gray skinned alien - the very type that the Man had talked to Clark about once, hover over the landscape of the 50's era town as he blasted a line of destruction across the landscape.  Colonel Preskin approached to get a closer look as Kal let his character drop back down to the ground.  The jetpack folded itself up as he started to run over to find the scientist he needed to get the secret codes from.

"What game are you playing, Kal?"

Kal smirked.  "It's called 'Destroy All Humans...' I'm really quite enjoying it."  He blew away a room filled with soldiers and looked over at the fuming Colonel.  The man didn't say a word and just left.  Kal laughed and went back to killing as many humans as he could as he looked for the one that would give him the codes he needed to finish the level.

Later, Gus brought his dinner and smiled when he saw the game Kal was playing.

"You like that game?"

Kal grinned.  "Yeah, was it your idea?"

Gus smirked. "Thought you would appreciate the irony."

"Yeah, I do."  Kal paused the game and got up.  "Thanks."  He sauntered over to the table and sat down. He lifted the plate cover and frowned.  "What is that?"

"I dunno but you asked for gourmet fare, I guess you have to live with what they give me to bring."  Gus winked and smiled at Kal as he turned to leave.

Kal shrugged and dug in. It was very good, whatever it was.

-------

After several days of boredom, Kal was glad that colonel finally figured out how to pay off all of the Kents' debts.  The part of Kal that was still Clark felt gratitude for the greed of the humans that they would pay so much to get his cooperation.  Kal himself lost all respect he'd had for humankind.  Their greed seemed limitless.  There were probably only a few, like the Kents, that didn't think about what you could give them before they'd do anything for you.

The day after the colonel showed him the copies of all the paid bills, the goons came to take him downstairs.  Kal didn't like being taken down to the apartment they'd set up for his rendezvous with the girls, they again used very large amulets to control him and he nearly lost consciousness, but once there Kal liked the room he was taken to.  A lot.

It was down in the lower levels so there were no windows but it was otherwise exactly like an expensive hotel room.  There were expensive leather upholstered chairs and soft thick carpeting on the floor.  There was a large king sized four poster bed and, just like the colonel had promised, no chains in sight.

Kal smiled. He turned in anticipation when Gus brought the first young lady in.

She was gorgeous.  She had beautiful long, blonde hair and bright sky blue eyes. She was tall and fit and wore a slinky red dress and high heels. She smiled when she saw Kal, in his slim fitted slacks and his tight silk shirt. "My name is Barbie..."

"I'm Kal."

She smiled, almost embarrassed, and looked at Kal from underneath her long lashes.  She was adorable. "I thought the man I would be making love to would be old and ugly..."

Kal approached her slowly with a big smile on his face. "Why would you think that?"

"Well, why else on earth would anyone pay as much as I'm getting paid to have a baby? I'd carry your baby for free..."  She touched his face softly and looked up into his eyes. "The only payment I'd need would be to see you everyday..."

Kal smiled as he cupped her face softly in his hands.  He grasped her hand gently with his and led her toward the bed.   She smiled warmly up at him as they slowly walked over to the bed, her eyes becoming dark with desire. Her face was flushed and her lips were parted and moist. Kal's body responded to her desire.

He smiled at her as she climbed into the bed. She laid down and spread her arms out and Kal's body thrummed as he climbed in after her and covered her body with his.  He leaned down and kissed her softly and she wrapped her arms around his neck.  He kneed her legs apart and she rewarded him with rubbing her hips against his hardness.  Kal smiled and nuzzled her neck as he placed his hands on either side of her body, trapping her underneath him in a flesh and blood prison that was stronger than steel. She didn't realize her vulnerability.

He started to whisper in her ear.  She giggled at first, unsure of what he was whispering but as he continued she became distressed. "What?"

Kal continued to whisper but she struggled against him. She beat against his chest and arms but she might as well have been beating him with feathers as much good it did her. She screamed at him as he smiled at her distress. "What are you saying?"

"Exactly what I told you. They want you to have my baby because I'm an alien."

"You're crazy."

"No, I'm not."  Kal looked into her eyes and calmly replied. "I can prove it."

He glanced over at a flower arrangement on the table and concentrated. It caught fire and the blooms burned in an instant.  She struggled against him and he finally rolled off of her and let her go. She scrambled off the bed and fell to the floor in her desperation to escape... She stumbled as she stood shakily and back away from him in horror. "You're a freak!"

"I thought you wanted to look at me every day..." Kal laughed as he leaned on one arm on the bed.  It was then the grate in the ceiling opened.  Kal collapsed in pain, yet he still laughed.

Colonel Preskin and some guards stormed in.  "What the hell is going on in here?"

Barbie stood with the help of one of the goons and pointed her finger at the prone Kal.  "He said he was an alien and that you want me to carry his spawn so the aliens could take over the world."  She tried to storm out but one of the goons grabbed her arm. "You can't pay me enough to carry that thing's baby!"

The goon pulled Barbie out of the room as the colonel rounded on Kal.

"We had a deal."

Kal smiled, despite the pain.  "I lied."

"Why? I gave you everything you asked for."

"I don't want to be the father of your army anymore than Clark does..."

Colonel Preskin shook his head, totally perplexed. "Was this just a game to you? See how much you could manipulate me?"

"Yes and no.  I've been enjoying myself in a way that he never could but Clark needed the break."

Colonel Preskin frowned and pulled out one of those little remotes.  He pushed a button and the grate in the ceiling opened wider.  The increase in the kryptonite exposure put Kal close to unconsciousness.  He groaned and could only look up at the colonel as his world narrowed.

The Colonel turned and talked to someone over his shoulder.  "Go clean its cage. I want everything out of there this thing talked out of me...."  He leaned over Kal and did something to the choker locked around his neck.

He pulled the chain free from Kal's neck.  No longer influenced by red-k, Clark came to full awareness with a body filled with pain.  He grimaced as he looked up at his tormentor and groaned.

The Colonel looked down at Clark and shook his head.  "I guess its back to plan A... Tomorrow, they'll be chains on this bed and you'll have an appointment with a young lady you haven't scared to death."
