Captive Prince: Fic Rec, again
I'm going to give recommending this story another try:
I LOVE THIS STORY.
In fact, I love it so much I <3 it more than some novel series I've paid for and don't miss a volume of.
I adore Unresolved Sexual Tension and there's tons of it in this story. If you like that too, maybe that will be enough to get your attention. I mean, one of my longer stories had wads of UST ( Superman for Sale), so if you like that you might like this story.
If I'm lying, come back and tell me, but I swear you'll love it if you give it a try. If you can't stop reading after just the first two updates, The Prologue and Chapter One, come back and tell me why you didn't like it.
I think you may like it especially if you're a Clex fan. While Laurent isn't Lex and Damen isn't Clark, there are some broad similarities.
Both men are completely human, but like Lex, Laurent is an apparently spoiled rotten brat who had a awful childhood (and lots of good reasons to hate Damen and his entire country) with secrets he's hiding. The secrets that might explain Laurent's complicated motivations are slowly revealed and we still haven't learned everything yet and the story's about halfway done.
Like Clark, Damen is bull-headed and physically imposing and incredibly capable at a lot of different things. If there's a fight that's even close to being fair (he's even believably won some that weren't fair), Damen will win it and do it honorably and overwhelmingly. He's noble, incredibly strong, tall, brave, broad and my type, so he really pushes some of my buttons.
I think the reason I like this story so much is that this isn't the typical slave fic where the captive discovers how much he or she needs to be mastered and loves being tied up and told what to do. This isn't a kinky PWP. There's a lot of story in this and tons of great character development. They grow and change and there's a ton of great conflict with some stellar action and terrific hurt/comfort to boot.
It's an intriguing premise and the men are so different and hated each other so much at the beginning, it was hard to believe at first how she was going to get them to even be civil to one another, much less begin to trust and respect each other. She's now 17 chapters in and they're slowly beginning to come together... They're not in love yet, but I never would have thought it possible they'd ever get there when I first started reading. Eventual love even makes sense with who they are with the way she's woven the story. I've bought this story hook, line and sinker.
Take it from me: I NEVER read original fics, any I've tried I usually abandon for one reason or another, but I love this one.
Read it.
