Anti-Inflamatory

Alright, so let's get straight to the point with this particular entry: why the fuck is everyone so depressed, angry or full of angst? I'm really curious to hear some responses on this. (And yes, this is a rant that is designed to get you thinking. Please post your thoughts.)

I, myself, used to be extremely depressed - and yes, I still do get my moments - but I got over it. Why can others just not seem to crawl out of that rut? I looked at the negative all the time and let everything get to me. Now I look toward the future, the positive and the light-hearted aspects of life. That totally changed the way life looked for me, and I will never revert back.

Sure, life does have its moments where you are thrown into the ditch. But, anything has that - period. You learn to roll the throw off, get a bit dirty or wet and stand up in pride a little ways down that hill and into the mud. If you don't, you just allow your body to roll into the dark, dirty depths of garbage and waste that reside within the green pool of mush that awaits you at the bottom of the hill. Why can people not muster the energy to stop themselves from getting into that situation when they normally would if it were literally speaking?

Lately, several of my friends are full of depression and pessimism. I won't name names - you already know who you are - but if you don't decide to stand up and face the problem at all angles with a logical thought pattern, it will never get properly resolved. Depression is a problem, and often it isn't one that can be solved easily. However, just looking up at the bright side of things--not thinking "there's nothing bright to look at" (a commonly-used statement that a few people like to use)--will lighten your day up. A little trick that I like to use is look for some plans you have ahead and focus on working toward those. Remember, tomorrow is another day and thus things will improve along with it.

I know that this is a bit of a rant, but what exactly is a journal for if you cannot speak your mind - even if it is publicly? The world could use a lot more positivity and less laziness. By looking at what you've accomplished and what is forthcoming for you, you will get along in life much better and you'll find your productivity levels increase.

For example, I'll take the following scenario and compare sides:
You have a list of chores to do within the house. You spend several hours completing them. After completion, you have friends over and the mess recreates itself. How do you look at this situation?
Positively: You cleaned up before your friends were here to create a fresh and clean environment in which your companions could enjoy while being here. Without doing so, it would have been a much larger project to complete afterward and you may have been short some needed materials.
Negatively: You did all that work for nothing and you wasted your time. Now you have to do it all over again. It wasn't worth it; we should have just made a larger mess to clean up. No matter what, we would have worked and lived around the mess.

Obviously, in comparison, the positive side wins... and keeps you brighter. If you think against that, reread it several times over and actually think about the words contained. How common are they to you? That will allow you to reevaluate your own thought process and outlook toward life.
