With the Twilight movie about to be released and "coverage" of this ridiculous abomination of a film (and book) coming out of every asshole in America, I would like to reiterate my hate for this series.
Stephanie Meyer is NOT a good writer. I know of no successful writers who think so and whoever thought this novel was publishable is mildly retarded (but kudos to you for hiring a mentally challenged individual, you politically correct pricks). She has openly admitted the book was inspired by a dream she had at 14, and that she never did any research on vampiric lore. no shit? She also states that she doesn't want to watch REAL vampire movies because she can't handle those awful R-rated films, because they stress her out. NOT THAT YOU HAD A GODDAMN SCENE WHERE A WEREWOLF AND VAMPIRE RIP OUT A BABY FROM A YOUNG TEENS WOMB.
Bella is a self-insert, and even worse, a horrible Mary Sue. How in gods name is she likable? She's the goth-pretty, I'm down with that, that's how I write my characters and I am to an extent. But she is a total bitch. People help her out and she whines about it. She whines about life itself. Still, it could be just a phase. After all, she wants to go to college and stuff, right? Oh wait. No, not after Edward. After Edward she just wants to fuck and be a vampire and college? pft. And when Eddie leaves her, she gets all emotastic AND TRIES TO KILL HERSELF SO SHE CAN HEAR HIS VOICE.
Seriously--- how DARE you think these books are the end-all be-all of writing? They are HORRIBLY written. If, like a few of my friends, you admit they are a whole lot of fluff but enjoy them in the way one enjoys a trashy erotica novel, then that's all well and good.
But these books are NOT a good example of a healthy relationship and if any of you Twi-twats tell me its because i haven't experienced the "twu wuv" that Eddie and Mary Sue have experienced, well, you're an idiot. Because 1, I really think I have. I'm older, I know better than you what love is, and I've been through some hard things for it. And 2, you don't know. Obviously, you don't. Otherwise you'd see that this is an awful, abusive relationship, and I've been in one of those too, AND IT WAS NOT FUCKING AWESOME.
