Has a show ever gone from so great to so shitty in such a short time span? That finale was terrible. They couldn't even successfully kill off the annoying characters. Giant plot holes everywhere, terrible acting, character regression as opposed to progression, and just generally a giant pile of poo.
I know Kring was rushed with the writer's strike, but he had Jeph Fucking Loeb write that last episode, and it was still as awful as the whole season was (minus episode nine which was amazing). If the guy who wrote "The Long Halloween" and "Dark Victory" can't make something out of your show, you should probably consider killing yourself.
Here's hoping season 3 starts and ends in five minutes with a nuke exploding and killing everyone.
It's sad to watch a show descend so quickly. Most great shows die an agonizing death as they get worse over time. In this case, it's like they ran off a sweet jump in season one, only to discover that the jump was the Snake River, and they didn't have Evel's sweet rocket motorcycle or a parachute. The fall was painful, but not nearly as bad as the landing.
