Title: Psychopomp 01/0?
Author: ThomasPower
Characters: The DLM Gang and X-Files Gang
Rating/Length: R for strong language. Unknown length.
Disclaimer: Blah blah, I don't own DLM. If I did; it would be on it's fifth season. And if I owned the X-Files, I would never have moved it from Vancouver to Los Angeles, or have gone so heavy on the Alien Conspiracy stuff.

Summary: X Marks The Spot. That's all you need to know.

Minor Notes: Yes, I know that the X-Files ended a year before Dead Like Me began it's first season; but let's just imagine for a moment that this is the “Classic” X-Files, just timeshifted ahead for our purposes.

Prologue:

Special Agent Dana Scully sighed as she walked into the basement corner office that she'd been spending an unhealthy amount of time in over the last couple of years.

“Mulder, when will we ever get out of here?”

“Why move?” came a voice from the far end of the office. “I like it down here; lots of room down here, and nobody bothers us that much.”

“I never knew that your treasured collection of Alien Autopsy One through Twenty Three meant that much to you, Mulder.”

Rounding a file cabinet that held the “X” Files, she saw Mulder fiddling around with a rather newish digital projector.

“It's about time that you ditched slides like the rest of the FBI.”

“Slides were easier to set up, no problems with powerpoint or all that stuff, just toss them in.”

“Why, Mulder, don't you like Powerpoint?”

“Hate it. Okay, tell me what you think,” Mulder said with a flourish as he turned on the projector and splashed a photograph obviously taken from a surveillance camera somewhere against the projector screen permanently attached to one wall.

“I see it, Mulder. What are we supposed to be looking for?”

“What about this one?”

Click.

A different photograph came up on the screen.

“I don't see it, Mulder.”

Sighing, Mulder clicked back with the remote and brought up the first image.

“Look at the upper right corner. The long-haired girl with what appears to be light colored hair.”

“I see her. So?”

Click.

“Lower right hand corner, Scully. Same girl.”

“So....there's the same girl in each of these photographs, Mulder. This is evidence for....what?”

With a smile, Mulder leant back into the chair next to the DLP. Even though he no longer had to be close to the projector to hand load slides or fix jams, he kind of liked that spot.

“This is one new feature I like about these DLPs.”

Click.

The still photograph resolved into movement as the camera footage rolled.

“Watch the girl closely, Scully.”

As she watched, the girl appeared to brush the man's shoulder. Moments later, as the man walked into the street, he was run over by a car.

“Same thing in the next one, Scully.”

Click.

This time, the girl shook a woman's hand, moments before a flowerpot came crashing down onto the womans' head.

“I've got a whole bunch of film from surveillance cameras all nearly exactly like this, Scully. Seattle PD wasn't sure what to make of this; so they kicked it up to the Seattle office, and the office in turn kicked it down to me, since they couldn't make sense of it either.”

“So....Mulder, what do you think that girl is? Some sort of....Psychic Vampire?

“Actually Scully,” Mulder said with a smile, “They're called either Pranic Vampires, Empathic Vampires, Energy Predators, Energy Parasites, or my personal favorite, Energivores.”

“Should I bring some holy water, Mulder?”

“Actually, I don't think Holy Water works agains them. Might not hurt to pack it, though.”

“Pack it?”

“We've got tickets out of Reagan National for Seattle this afternoon. Hope you weren't planning on any hot dates this weekend.”

“Mulder....”

COMMENTARY: Oh, you just KNEW that this crossover had to be done. In fact, I'm surprised that it apparently' hasn't been done until now. Just a quick idea that came to me originally when I read a short DLM fanfic, that had Kiffany reporting to the FBI as “Agent K” about the activities of a “Death Cult” in Seattle.

As for the banter between Mulder and Scully, I was a big fan of the X-Files and a while back, I watched almost all of the nine seasons of the show back to back over a week. Yes, I'm certifiable and have no life.
