$350M

$350M? is that all we can cough up?! are you fucking kidding me?!?!
i heard a quote today - that the US spends $350M in and on iraq, before breakfast time is over, every day. whether true or not, i don't know - - it was from a commentator on CNN so i tend to believe it leans more towards the truth than not, for whatever that's worth.

and citizens, via the donation click on amazon.com, had pledged more than $12.5M already - just from that one website alone; i'd hazard to guess that far more has been pledged via redross, redcrescent, care, unesco, etc. by citizens. we americans have billionaire citizens and trillionaire corporations - - cough the shit up, people! if you donate on a personal level - please call your Human Resources department (if you're working) - they may have a matching gifts program by which you can double your contribution.

isn't there someplace i can cast a vote saying "i want my taxes going to this, not for that"? i do not agree with how MY MONEY is being spent. money i worked to earn; money that is being extorted from me and pissed away. can i opt out? i don't want to be a pirate!

too goddamn bad all of SE Asia ain't a swing-state; they'd have gotten the same BILLIONS granted Florida (and Jeb Bush) for hurricane relief, by now...

why not a tax system where you decide where your money goes? it'll probably be about the same in the end, anyway - all the jugheads will opt for defense, all the tree-huggers for the environment, all the artsy-farsties for the NEA, etc. but at least you'll feel better about it - knowing that 100% of the money you're going to have to pay anyway, goes towards your favorite "government charity."

grr grumble pissy mood.
