Friday, we went to a wine&cheese/piano recital Rotary benefit. This is the second year that we have been gifted with tickets to it by the pianist. Main reason for mentioning it is that I think that
antuvschle or possibly
gillen might have enjoyed recital. It was broken up into sets of two or three songs. The sets had categories like, 'Light Classical', 'Latin' or 'Movies'. After the set, the audience was asked to guess the title and composer. The first correct guesser got a small prize. Nice variety of music.
antuvschle tried to get a song from Chess stuck in my head, but it couldn't compete with "It don't mean a thing, if it ain't got that swing'.
Gave in to temptation and bought a new computer game on Saturday. Although the official reason for not having bought a game in quite a while is that I was waiting for better paychecks, a bigger reason was that nothing really seemed all that worthwhile. A lot of the stuff I was seeing seemed to be YA RPG or YA Warcraft style or ... Actually, the last game that I bought that I really got the most mileage from was the original Half-Life. I enjoyed the single player storyline (even the second time through) and played more hours than I like to think in the multiplayer mode. About the only thing that has tempted me recently has been Alice, which is currently only ten bucks and looks like Lewis Carroll writing Kill Bill.
Anyway, what actually caught my attention is Enigma: Rising Tide. And, no, it has nothing to do with German code machines. It is a WWII era naval warfare game. You get to command both surface ships and subs. It might not be a new idea (well, beyond the fact that this is in an alternate universe with a slightly different history), but not one that has been done recently.
Oh, and speaking of Kill Bill, I did finally watch that. Despite the spurting blood, I enjoyed and might try to catch the sequel on Thursday. The style of it reminded me a lot of Desperado, another bloodbath film done surreally.
