I'm home.
Sortof.
I'm writing this entry from San Jose where I'm attending the robot development conference. I returned safely from the war in Iraq this past August bedecked in military bling (most notably the meritorious service medal). I spent my time there ensuring that everyone had enough food and water. The most exciting thing that happened was a car bomb getting driven into my canal and blocking the water we purify. Fortunately, having an engineer on the logistics end, plus a couple more in the Mayor Cell and the Air Force side made for some quick projects and all ended well. I made some new and interesting friends while overseas whom I will treasure for the rest of my life - especially my war groom. We'll be getting married July 20th. Life is crazy sometimes.
Now I just need to adapt back to crazy regular life. I moved into a new apartment in September - it's been a fantastic change of pace from the sand flea infested closets they stored us in - that's the easy part. But all these clothes... my only question in the morning was "Do I throw on the slightly dirty, but already made up combat uniform or waste a clean uniform?" And now I actually have to think about what I'm going to wear the next day.
