Ugh. I'm trying to keep people as up to date as I can, but things keep changing from moment to moment around here. I called the unit to see what was what and get some more details

I wish the Army would actually offer a weight loss program without actually joining - maybe have another type of reserves if needed. I think it would help out a lot of people.
I wish the Army would help you lose the weight you need to lose before joining up. I had a friend spend two months living on granola bars and diet pills (the ephedrine kind that probably lowered her life expectancy by a couple of years) to lose enough weight to join the Air Force.
Ouch. I'm sorry about the person with the pills. So far the Army has done nothing unhealthy in terms of weight loss for me... unless you count the food that they feed us. *laughs* Mostly the weight loss comes from using muscles you didn't even know you had. For me, 5 days of hiking around with a 40 lb back pack is what caused me to lose 10 lbs. They fed us three square meals a day while they were doing that, but it was MREs. You lose your stomach for MREs within a day and a half... so I was probably surviving off of crackers, peanut butter and the occaisional tortellini.
Help with weight loss. Thats should be one of the new Army commercials to get more women to join. Hell if I would have known about it I would have been in years ago. You will be amazingly thin for your guide when you get back :D
