Various Funeral Honors Conducted
I was the detail commander for the following funerals:
Jan 22- SSgt Melvin Martin, USAF (vet) Veteran honors done after Native American rites for his tribe - actual name of tribe escapes me, but I know non-tribe people call them Sioux)
Jan 23 - Cpl Tom Boynes, US Army Air Forces (vet)
Apr 19 - 1Lt Marion Kennedy, USAF (medical retired)
Apr 21 - Unclaimed Veterans
Apr 22 - Maj Esther Hermanski, USAF (ret) Maj Hermanski was a flight nurse during WWII and her relatives said she logged more flight hours than most pilots.
Apr 25 - LtCol Frank Novi, USAF (ret) LtCol Novi was a bombardier whose last combat flight during WWII was over Japan. During that flight, his family says that his pilot called him up to the cockpit - to see the mushroom cloud over Hiroshima; he had been bombing in a seperate area. He spoke to his family at how it looked like the black and white pictures, but only with LOTS more color. After WWII he served through the Korean conflict in various staff positions.
