DEPARTMENT OF THE AIR FORCE
THIS IS TO CERTIFY THAT
THE AIR FORCE ACHIEVEMENT MEDAL
(FIRST OAK LEAF CLUSTER)
HAS BEEN AWARDED TO
FIRST LIEUTENANT DEWITT T. LATIMER
FOR OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT
18 JANUARY 2004 TO 4 JULY 2005
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
First Lieutenant DeWitt T. Latimer distinguished himself by outstanding achievement as the Officer-in-Charge of the Los Angeles Air Force Base Honor Guard, 61st Air Base Group, Space and Missile Systems Center, Air Force Space Command, Los Angeles Air Force Base, California. Lieutenant Latimer, handpicked by the base commander, led 53 officers and enlisted personnel in the completion of 264 details, which resulted in the execution of over 2,700 volunteer man-hours to Los Angeles Air Force Base and Southern California. As Officer-in-Charge, Lieutenant Latimer implemented an innovative process for running the Honor Guard that increased enlisted involvement from 17 to 34 percent, increased total Honor Guard manning by 30 percent, and eliminated a staggering backlog in paperwork by processing over 35 Air Force Achievement and Commendation Medals. Furthermore, Lieutenant Latimer developed a regimented evaluation process that directly attributed to the establishment of a Los Angeles Air Force Base Drill Team and to taking second place overall in the 2004 Space Command Honor Guard Competition. In addition to his duties as Officer-in-Charge, Lieutenant Latimer performed in 27 laudatory Honor Guard performances in Southern California and spent 4 weeks leading the Blue Eagles Honor Guard during military funeral and memorial honors. The distinctive accomplishments of Lieutenant Latimer reflect credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

GIVEN UNDER MY HAND
