Catching Up. With mirrorsmirk.

Oliver made his way down to the training room early the next morning after he discovered that Michael wasn't in his bed. He wasn't surprised to see the younger man at the punching bag, his back to Ollie.

He drew in a breath and let it out slowly, watching for a moment in silence. "You're going to pull your stitches." His voice was quiet.

Michael wasn't usually an early riser, but sleep didn't really find him the night before so he got up early. He attempted to quell his restlessness by pacing but after fifteen minutes of that, he needed something more. And the training room was calling his name. When he found the punching bag hanging, he looked around for a pair of padded gloves. After snatching up a pair of those, he attacked the bag full-force. At Ollie's voice, he didn't turn around. "Screw stitches," he murmured breathlessly.

Oliver remained silent another moment, then stepped into the room farther. "Chloe told me what she found out." He paused. "I'm sorry, Mike."

"Probably was a bad idea to get my hopes up," he added a roundhouse to his punch combination, ignoring the protest in his side.

He winced at that and looked down at the floor. "Chloe also said she was still looking."

"Good." His voice was quiet. "Then let's get something to drink and take a breather."

"Fine," he murmured, stripping his gloves off and tossing them to the side.

He drew in a breath and let it out slowly, leading Mike to the door. "I'm sorry I gave you this idea." His voice was quiet. "I should have done some research myself before I brought it up."

Michael shrugged. "I think on some level I wanted to look anyway. It's not your fault. So whatever. Now I know."

"Because this will be more productive," he assured Mike, patting his shoulder and hitting the up button on the elevator.

"I doubt it," he leaned against the wall of the elevator, letting out a breath.

"Well, that's the hope anyway." He glanced sideways at his "nephew."

"Guess we'll see." When the elevator door opened again, he stepped off and turned. "I'm gonna clean up really quick."

"Good thing you're my favorite nephew."

"More like your only nephew, but I'll take it."

"Semantics." He grinned a little and popped the disc into the computer, drawing in a breath and letting it out slowly.

Michael watched the screen, waiting for the audio to start.

Oliver paused for a moment, then shook his head. "He didn't threaten us. I don't think he's planning to attack--at least not at this point."

"But you're willing to risk it on you thinking nothing's gonna happen? If he's watching you, he'll memorize the places you go, the people you interact with, the same with Chloe and Mia."

He gave Michael a look. "I didn't say a word about risking anything. And he probably already has. But we're not going to jump into this without thinking over every angle first."

"You don't have to say anything about risking anything. It's still a risk." He mirrored Ollie's look. "And I'm not saying don't look at this from all angles. I'm just trying to give you a starting point."
