Oliver hadn't slept. Despite the fact he hadn't been sleeping well the last few weeks, he usually got at least a couple hours of rest every night. But not that night. That night he was wide awake, afraid that if he fell asleep, Chloe would never wake up. It haunted him at night

He drew in a breath and let it out slowly. He slowly sat down beside her. "I'm done not talking about things that matter." His voice was quiet.

Chloe watched him for a moment, considering him then took a deep breath, holding her hands together over her lap, "go ahead."

Oliver gazed at her for a long moment. "Don't do it again, Chloe." His voice was quiet.

[chloeas]

"It didn't hurt me," she pointed out, holding his gaze and straightening up a little, "it made me tired, I slept and now we're both fine."

"This time." He rubbed a hand over his face. "What about next? Or the time after that? You slept for ten hours without moving."

[chloeas]

"I just need to get my energy back, Oliver," she crossed her legs over the bed, "and it's better than leaving you with a huge cut on your stomach."

"It would have healed, Chloe."

[chloeas]

"But it was faster and safer this way," she looked at him for a long moment, "I get why you wouldn't want to go see a doctor, but you didn't know for sure how bad it was and you stitched yourself up, you could have gotten an infection, Ollie." Her voice was quieter this time, she wished he'd understand.

"Then I would have gotten an infection," he responded, his jaw tightening a little. "I don't need you risking your life for me."

At that, her jaw tightened too and she sat up straight, "so you get to risk your life for me, but I don't get to do the same for you?"

"When have I ever risked my life for you?" He gave her a look.

[chloeas]

"When you broke me out of the Doctor's office." She pointed out, holding his gaze.

"Yeah, well, if you remember right, Clark showed up right after I did. He did the hard part, not me." His expression grew distant as he looked away.

[chloeas]

"You were still there and you were the one who found me," she had asked Clark about it after it all happened, "if you hadn't, he probably would have killed me because Clark wouldn't have been on time."

At that, he rolled his eyes. "Clark would have found you, Chloe. We both know that."

[chloeas]

"If you knew that, why did you come after me? You were risking yourself for me, Oliver, he could have had a gun, he could have gotten to you before Clark got there, and then what?"
