Oliver hadn't slept. Despite the fact he hadn't been sleeping well the last few weeks, he usually got at least a couple hours of rest every night. But not that night. That night he was wide awake, afraid that if he fell asleep, Chloe would never wake up. It haunted him at night ( Read more... )

A long time later, Chloe finally started to wake up, she had been so tired, she didn't even notice she had fallen asleep. She shifted slightly and felt his arms tight around her, and suddenly, she was a little more awake, memories of what had happened rushing through her mind.

At least Oliver was okay now, she had healed him, but she had no doubt he still wasn't happy about it. Slowly, she opened her eyes and wasn't surprised to see him staring at her.

When he found himself gazing into familiar green eyes, he released a breath he hadn't even realized he'd been holding. "How are you feeling?" His voice was quiet.

She blinked a couple of times, the pain in her stomach was completely gone and she did feel a little out of it but otherwise, "okay," she told him quietly, shifting in his arms but not pulling away, "how long did I sleep for?"

He looked over his shoulder at the clock behind him. "Ten hours," he whispered, his chest tightening again. He swallowed hard.

She swallowed and watched him for a second then nodded, and she had no doubt that he had been awake the whole time, just watching her, "I'm sorry," she told him again, looking down before meeting his gaze again.

She was sorry she lied to him when she said she wouldn't heal him and sorry that she had worried him, but not sorry that she had done it.

He drew in a breath and let it out slowly, nodding a little and remaining silent. His jaw tensed a little and he pressed a kiss to her forehead before pulling away.

Chloe sighed deeply when he pulled away, shifting on the bed until she was sitting up and rubbing her hands over her face.

She didn't want to, but she knew she had to leave, he probably wanted to be away from her for a while.

"I should go," she told him just as quietly, turning her head up to look at him, trying to read how mad he was at her.

"Don't you think we should talk about this?" he asked, turning to look at her.

"I wasn't sure you would want to," she said sincerely, moving to sit at the edge of the bed.
