We Just Got Lost. With chloeas.

It wasn't quite seven in the evening when Oliver pulled his car into the underground garage below the clock tower. Already his stomach felt twisted and he hadn't even shut off the engine. He hadn't seen her in nearly two months, and in that time he'd only spoken with her twice--once on the phone and once via email ( Read more... )

Chloe was coming out of the bedroom, a pile of clothes in her arms when she heard the elevator, her eyes widening when she saw him stepping out of it, "Oliver?"

Damnit. She hadn't really spoken to him in over six weeks and although she tried to, he had been less than available for her. She almost believed that he had actually ended the extension of their friendship because he had developed feelings for her. And then she saw the tabloids and although she knew better than to believe the stories, the photoshopped images never looked that real.

He had gotten tired of her and wanted to go back to his old life and that was his choice, even if it hurt. But she would do her best to ignore that part.

He stood frozen just inside the apartment, looking around and then his gaze finally fell on her. "Going somewhere?" he asked uncertainly.

With a deep breath, she walked a few feet toward him and placed the pile of clothes into one of the boxes, "I told you this was only temporary," she pursed her lips together, she had hoped she could have been out before he made his way back to town, the last thing she wanted was to hear him with some bimbo in the next room when she couldn't stop thinking about his body on top of hers, "I didn't know you were going to be in town," she said as casually as she could.

"Yeah, but you haven't been here that long," he pointed out, trying to ignore the slight hint of panic he felt tugging at him. "Can you afford somewhere else in Metropolis?"

His eyebrows were furrowed and he did his best not to wince at her casual remark. "It was a last minute business thing that came up or I would have called."

His jaw tightened a little at her words, at the smirk on her face. "I imagine it does considering where you work." His tone was neutral.

"Don't worry, Oliver, I know better than to believe everything I hear," she turned her eyes back on the box and kept her voice casual.

He stared at her for a long moment. "Meaning?"

"Meaning people like to gossip about you?" She told him, raising her eyebrows.

"Alcohol helps?" He shrugged a little, looking down at his hands on the counter.

"I guess it would." She paused, looking around, "do you want some?" Because she sure as hell did.

"You have some here?" He raised his eyebrow and turned his head to look at her.

"Whatever you left here," she told him. Well, most of it, anyway. She might have taken a few sips of a couple of bottles...

He poured her another and topped off his own, taking a drink. "Well, alcohol has this really pleasant numbing effect that I'm rather fond of personally. And whiskey?" He smirked and took another drink. "Nothing better for that."

"Why do you wanna be numb?" She asked, suspiciously as she sipped on her drink, she hadn't had any food so the first glass was already making her a little loose.

"The better question is...why would I want to be sober?" He raised his eyebrows a little, downing the rest of the drink. He was well on his way to being slightly hammered already.

"You better not be patrolling like this," she glared at him and took a long drink of her glass.

Oliver watched her intently for a long moment, exhaling slowly and then looking down at his drink. He finished off the glass of whiskey and looked at the bottle but didn't reach for it.

Chloe paused and raised an eyebrow, "aren't you going to eat?"

"I'm not really hungry," he answered with a slight shrug.

"Why did you order so much food, then?" She asked with a frown, sipping on her drink.
