Oliver stretched out on the yoga mat after his workout, then blew out a breath and rose to his feet, heading for the locker room. He was glad he'd bought the small but private training facility because not only was it a good place to train with Mia, but he hoped the rest of the team would be able to make use of it as well. The thrill of the hunt always started with the surveying. It was his favorite part, learning about his target, their habits, their strengths, weaknesses. Oliver Queen had been watched for more than a week without him being the least bit aware of it. Now that the man was finally alone and he knew all he needed to, it was time to strike.

Slade had followed him to the gym, had waited in the shadows as the man had worked out. He had to hand it to him, the man had fighting skills. Too bad they were no match to what was to come.

He headed out of the locker room slowly, every muscle in his body tense and on full alert. If there was one thing he'd learned over the years as Green Arrow, it was to trust his instincts.

And right now they were screaming at him to proceed with caution.

Slade moved swiftly through the darkness, following Oliver's every move. When the man closed in on the front doors, he swung down from the ceiling, landing quietly in front of him silently, sword drawn.

He moved quickly, back several steps, eyeing the large, masked man in front of him. "Can I help you?" His voice was strong, calm.

"We're just getting started," Oliver responded, firing two more arrows at him.

He cut the first one effortlessly and dodged the second one easily enough, striking back with his sword. It sliced through his arm smoothly.

He barely winced, rolling away and out of reach. He plucked a knife from the target behind him and hurled it at the other man without hesitation.

Slade dodged the knife and swung again with his sword, side-stepping him and appeared suddenly behind him. "I applaud the effort."

He grunted, pain searing through him from the gash already pouring blood from his stomach. "You have a code, right?"

"Yes, I do." He put his sword away, jerking the dagger from Oliver's hand and plunging it into his shoulder, twisting.

His body bucked involuntarily against the new surge of pain, but he didn't have enough fight left in him to budge the other man. "Don't let them find me."

Slade tsk'd and pulled the knife out, the blade easily cutting through the button-down shirt. He pressed it against the soft flesh at the base of Oliver's neck and began to drag it down. Mr. Luthor had said to make him suffer and he had no problem with that. "That would mean I didn't do my job right."
