Oliver sat in the driver's seat of the car after placing the vehicle in the park position. His hands gripped tightly onto the steering wheel as he stared out the windshield at the mansion. His heart was already beating more quickly in his chest ( Read more... )

When Oliver had suggested that she tag along with them on the journey out to his old house, Mia hadn't thought it would be that big a deal. It was just a house, right? A pretty fancy and huge one, but still a house. The way Oliver's knuckles were turning white on the steering wheel suggested that it was probably more than that though.

Mia snuck a questioning glance at Chloe as she undid her seatbelt. "So," she ventured, "is this the place?"

Chloe glanced back at Mia and nodded a little, she wished she had had time to warn Mia that Ollie wasn't doing too well and was pretty nervous about things but they hadn't been alone.

"It looks pretty well kept," she commented, looking from the house to Oliver and hesitantly placing a hand over his arm, rubbing it a little, "you ready to go in?"

Oliver didn't even notice the look that passed between the other two people in the car, and he barely noticed Chloe's hand on his arm.

"Let's get this over with." He drew in a breath, pulled the keys from the ignition and reached for the door handle.

Mia could see that Oliver was pretty nervous all by herself. What she didn't know was why. But since he was being all weird, she decided she'd boost the normality levels up even more.

"Finally," she huffed, swinging open her own door and climbing out. "I've had to pee for the last ten minutes. Your house better have working plumbing, Ollie."

Chloe smiled softly at Mia, maybe she had the right idea about how to make Oliver relax.

She started towards the front doors with them, looking around, the house looked much more like a family home than she expected it too. It was huge, sure, but between what she had seen of the Luthor Mansion and Oliver's barely furnished apartments, she had expected something a lot less personal than what it looked like. From the outside at least.

He smiled at Mia's remark. "Yes, of course there's working plumbing." He let out a breath, searching through the keys on his keyring until he found the one he was looking for, glancing behind him to make sure they were following as he made his way onto the porch.

"Good, hurry up and let me in so I can go." Mia darted up the steps behind him, exuding juvenile impatience, though she didn't make a grab for the keys. She figured that the longer Oliver thought about what he was doing, the worse he'd get, and she wasn't going to give him a chance to worry about it.

She knew exactly what Mia was doing and couldn't help but smile, that was a good strategy, one Chloe wouldn't really have thought about herself. She had to give Mia props for it later.

Either way, Chloe stayed behind Oliver, waiting for him to open the door.

He chuckled softly, unlocking the door and stepping inside. "Up the stairs to the right, second door," he told Mia, shaking his head a little with amusement.

Mia flew past him into the house, only stopping to give it a raised eyebrow before clattering up the stairs with all the noise and rowdiness of ten teenagers. "If I get lost, send a search party!" she called over her shoulder as she left Chloe and Oliver behind.

Grinning softly, Chloe raised her eyebrows, "we'll bring Bart to find you," she called after her, teasing. She knew just how annoyed Mia got at Bart, but she knew the attention was also good for her.

Oliver grinned at her comment, watching Mia disappear up the staircase. "She seems happier here," he said softly, glancing at Chloe, his eyes bright.

"Ugh, then I'll stay lost!" Mia shouted down the stairs with a roll of her eyes that neither of the others would see. She didn't really have to use the bathroom, but she figured she'd spend a few minutes there anyway, just to erase suspicion before wandering around.

Chloe grinned a little at Mia then nodded at Ollie, turning to face him, "she does, it's nice to see," she watched him for a moment, "you're doing a good job with helping her."
