People are stupid....
So I'm a server at Applebee's. Not the most glamorous job but it is paying the bills right now so whatever. Anyway, Applebee's got bought out yesterday byIHOP (as in the International House of Pancakes, IHOP). They don't plan on changing anything except that all stores will probably become franchises which wouldn't really affect much of anything. Anyway....customers who had heard about it kept asking us if we were going to change/become an IHOP/whatever. It got old pretty fast. So I figured out the best way to get them to shut up about it.
Customer: I heard Applebee's is being bought by IHOP....are you guys going to close or something?
Me: No
Customer: Is this still going to be an Applebee's...I don't like IHOP...blah, blah, blah.
Me: Oh no sir, we are staying exactly the same. Well of course everything will now be served smothered in Maple syrup but other than that everything will be the same.
Customer: ......(blank stare)
Me: (walks away and rolls eyes).
The longer I stay in this job the more faith I lose in humanity and their intelligence.
