Progress:
- Bought a futon frame and a papasan last week. Both turned out to have broken parts. Said parts have been replaced.
- Our fridge now produces water and ice.
- We have curtains in the living room.
- Usha now has a loft bed and a pink desk.
- We bought six pillows1 today, and a bed set that contains two decorative pillows. By my calculations, this, combined with the pillows we use for sleep, brings us to a total of 12 pillows on our bed. That seems a bit excessive, but Saffy is happy, so why not?
- Saffy keeps telling me that my choices are making our bedroom look like a porn set. I'm looking into getting a video camera.
- We actually have most of the stuff we need for the home at this point. With any luck, there'll be photos a couple of weeks from now, and maybe a housewarming party.
- Saffy and I celebrated the 10 year anniversary of when we first met (a mere two months late). Restaurant. Didn't have strength to plan anything more. It was nice.
- There are leaves on the ground.
Also, driving in Massachusetts is fun:
- The devil-may-care attitude (on the part of both pedestrians and cars) toward imminent death is heartwarming.
- To reduce overcrowding on 128, travel in the breakdown lane is allowed on some stetches during rush hour.
- To help with funding, at the ends of such stretches, cops weed out the unwary.
- The roads are a great deal less straight. This leads to us frequently getting lost, as I try to learn the area. Fortunately, Saffy derives a great deal of entertainment from us being lost.
1 Actually, 2 pillows and 4 sham stuffers2.
2 A sham stuffer is a pillow3. And a sham is a pillow case. No, I don't know why they can't just call them pillow & pillow case, respectively.
3 We had to ask the cashier. Shopping at Bed, Bath & Beyond would be easier if they wouldn't use words we don't know4.
4 And I'd always thought my vocab was pretty good, too...
