For someone who doesn't actually like to read angst or grimdark in his fanfic, I seem to be having very little difficulty turning a responsible, mature, and level-headed sorceress into a bitter, misanthropic, cynical, and malicious trickster.
In my defence, the character required for the first part of the story is the former, so she can actually get to where the action is in the first place, and the character required for the next part is the latter, so she can do what needs to be done. And since this is kind of a speculative origin story, it's not like I have much room to work with for the end result.
I wonder how many people on my friendslist are actually Touhou fans, or are interested in learning about it via Wall Of Text. I'm not sure whether I should actually post the fanfic I've been working on here, just so I don't seem unusually coy about what the hell I'm talking about.
