Specifically, I want to write about the Magical Girl team without having to bother with coming up with all sorts of justifications about their parents or why four teenage girls are allowed to run around in miniskirts fighting supervillains. Complications like "dead parents" or "ran away from home" will not be considered, since they lead to Angst, and I cannot write angst. At least, not for NaNo.
Now I can just completely ignore it, and stick the girls in a peculiarly lax boarding house or some such. This would mean that I will never be able to actually salvage the NaNo, since, well, the problem was ignored, instead of solved and integrated into the story. But I don't really want to come up with any reasons why the characters are where they are, doing what they do, since if I do, I may as well bow out of NaNoWriMo now.
It's a trade-off. I could be sensible and thus turn NaNo into work with the promise of possibly making an actual story out of it, or I could just have fun and then toss the whole thing when I'm done.
