Tutorial: Installing a S1 Override

Dec 23, 2005 11:12

I. Open up a text editor. (I'm using Notepad for windows but you could also use simpletext if you own a Mac.)

II. Copy the layout of your choice and paste it into your text editor. The next step is to change all of those yourusername with your actual username. This is done by either hitting Ctrl+H or by selecting Edit and then Replace. A window will pop up and you will then add yourusername to the first box and then your actual username to the second box. Once that is done, hit Replace All.

III. Go to your Edit Info page, http://www.livejournal.com/editinfo.bml and make sure you have added a website. (The easiest is just placing the url of your journal.)

IV.Make sure you are using the S1 style system. (http://livejournal.com/customize/)

V. Go to your Modify Journal page. (http://livejournal.com/modify.bml) and change your style to the one needed for the override.

VI. Select Custom Colors and then leave all the boxes blank. (You will have to delete any colors that are there from the previous style.)

VII. Go to the Override Box and paste into it your edited layout.

VIII. Save your changes and you're done!
