I now understand why we elected GWB twice.
It only took a year and a half of working at Dippin' Dots, but I now understand the mind of the average American. It's not just that they are stupid, we all know that. They're also ignorant an unobservant. For example, at present we have a list of our milkshake flavors sitting on the flat part of the glass sneezeguard, which is used as a tall counter. People routinely come up and read these, not noticing they are milkshake flavors. This is despite it saying, directly above the flavors, "Milkshake flavors". I think this explains why George W. Bush managed to get elected twice. The American people just didn't notice his flaws. I certainly didn't notice them. This scares me, because this means I was at one point like these mall-people in some way.
Also, people get really pissy when you say no to them, be it ever so polite. But they have no concept of exactly how pissed off I am inside, from dealing with them. I dunno, the whole empathy part of people's brains just seems to shut off when they deal with people in the service sector. For myself, I will never give someone in the service sector a hard time again, no matter how slow the service, or how rude they are. EVER. I quite understand just how much their job sucks balls.
