last night was awesome.
mike, nate, erin, and i went to the Scratch US Tour : Original Jazzy Jay - The X-Ecutioners - Z-Trip - and Q-Bert. wow. simply amazing.

we walked in in the middle of jazzy jays set, he was droppin a lot of the classic breaks, excellent party rocker, quite an experience to see someone whos been doing it for so long, a member of zulu nation, one of the originals.

up next was the X, total ecipse, rob swift, and roc raida. these three blew my mind. rob pretty much stayed calm and collected throughout the whole thing, doin his thing. TE was on the mic alot gettin the crowd pumped, excellent juggling, roc raida was up to his old tricks again. it was great. the body tricks were blowing my mind, incredible shit. then came the table switching. Jesus that was killer, all 3 of the guys were jumping from table to table juggling the same break with out any flaws between them, so slick. a def. highlight of the night.

after the x were done blowing peoples minds z-trip came on, rockin the crowd like no other. laying down some really old school shit, playing some country acapellas with rugged hip hop breaks over them, so sweet. he started pulling out some remix'd plates, funny stuff, really added to his set. he then started really talking to the crowd and asked permission to drop something him and dj shadow had done in the past, a 20 min set of nothing but 45's, total headbangers shit. from AC/DC to Nirvana to Michael Jackson. z-trip really got the crowd jumping, everyone was jumping in the air, everyones hands were up, quite a highlight. he then proceded to do something him and cut chemist did in the scratch dvd, not quite sure what the song it called, classical anthem, with his own blend of scratching, awesome man, fantastic set.

q-bert was up next and the last man to preform, he had a turntable/mixer all in one. 3 cross faders tons of knobs, crazy tech stuff. everyone was basically in awe the whole time, this man is just incredible behind a turntable...he looked so focused and relaxed, truely and humbling experience. he started his own precussion segment with just one kick and one snare on his record, making beats from hip-hop, to jungle, one of the best parts of his set, outstanding. when his time was up he walked away to everyone screaming and stomping...the crowd didnt let up until we heard "yall wanna see some more of my man q-bert?!" crazy reaction as he stepped back out. threw on a plate, as soon as i heard those 170bpm i got so alert it was nuts. he was playing the pac man remix and scratching like a madman over it!

excellent show. the best show i have even been to.
to quote les, i give this show a rating of "blindingly awesome"
