Homecoming

As I sit at my friend’s apartment in Harlem, waiting for the dawn to get ready for the trip back home to Tashkent, I don’t feel I’ve been blessed with any revelation one gets upon dwelling on the long awaited trip to the place he’s been many many years ago.  Quite the contrary, the trip to the U.S. has been anything but an adventure.  It sure brought many new experiences and introduced to new friends, but apart from that, it was simply a matter of seeing things you must see and visit places you ought to visit.  So, here I am now, after three weeks of hectic attempts of combining both work and leisure, attending two trainings and one seminar in D.C., visiting host parents in Minnesota, and finding out for myself why New York is called “the city that never sleeps” (boring to admit this, but it’s actually true), I am trying to create a clear picture of where my feelings stand.  Road tripping ends.  Now it’s simply time to go back, and remember that sometimes, freedom does look like too many choices.
