Bandish music update
Soo for any of you who have followed the saga of my muscial endeavors here's the latest update:
What started as a desire simply for me to make music on my comp somehow evolved into a bandish thing. There's 5 of us and we try to meet weekly. It's pretty cool, we use the comp to multitrack record and listen and learn. I suppose our purpose of meeting is to learn and to grow musically and spiritually.
I think a captain planet analogy works really well to describe us.. We've got Earth ring on the bass, he leads worship from time to time at church and has a real 3rd day classic rock style to his music. His personality is very quiet and stable. He's a rock. Plus.. he rocks. We've got Wind ring on a million different instruments and vocals. He comes from a real contemporary chrisitan music background. Just watch this dude hammer out and singing the classic hymns on his dulcimer is real inspiring. His personality is very friendly and accepting yet passionate and inspiringly emotional. Then we've got Water ring who we are really just borrowing from another band for a while. She can play so many different things but is focusing on the wurlitzer at the moment. her personality is very imaginitive and creative. She's very smart and opinionated but not in a judgemental way. Despite her somewhat radical opions she's very adaptable and musically so widely varied.. everything from accordian to mandolin. She sounds influenced by rock folk and traditional styles of music and considers herself a gypsy. Heart Ring is my main man who I really felt like needed to be a part of this yet for reasons not so obvious. He's a roady, he's a producer, he's the main sound tech, he's a spiritual inspiration he's our sound engineer.. His influences are worship, worship, worship. And then me. I suppose I'm fire. I'm drums, vocals and whatnoy. My influences are pretty much rock electronic and some traditional..
The cool part of captain planet is when they all get together the big man shows up! Who do you think that could represent?? :)
Now we've been meeting for several months now but all 5 of us have only been there once. a few weeks ago wind's car died on him. For various reasons water had a hard time coming for a while and when she could make it rock couldn't. Now he can and she can't again this week.. GArr... On a good note, I had a vision that we all snapped together like a row of donut magnets. Lord let it be! :)
Yeah.. last week we tried some new stuff that we had written and it worked really well. I was really encouraged cause water was really excited about our new stuff and wants us to get it toghether so we can play a show to two before she has to hit the road.
My wife also encourages me saying that she thinks this is a really good thing.. that we're all getting together and God's using it somehow. so.. I'm geeked. I can't wait to see what that vision means. Hopefully something.
