New Neighbors

Construction is pretty much done on the apartment building that sprang up right behind my house. I was OK with its appearance, mainly because it's brand new, and it replaced the ugly-ass old building that was back there when I moved in. Plus, it muffles some of the train noise as the LTR travels on the street in front of my alley.

Some people have already moved in to the new building. I can tell by the fact that they're hanging out on their ridiculously small "balconies", and parking in the ramp built in to the structure. Said ramp will definitely increase traffic in my alley, which my tenant and I drive through to get in and out of my garage.

The thing that intrigues me the most is what is to become of the empty lot to the southeast of this new building. The original plans called for more condos, but I have no idea who would want to buy property right frickin' next to a train crossing that makes a loud "DING DING DING DING DING DING DING DING DING DING" every 3-5 minutes for most of the day.

It would make more sense to build retail there (like a coffee shop). They would get plenty of business from the VA Hospital alone- kitty corner to the location.

One thing is for sure, Brew Crew is going to be a little more bright from now on, because the parking lot is lit after dark by fluorescent lights very visible from my back yard.
