"She'll Be Comin' 'Round the Mountain"=Anti-Communist Ditty?

"We will kill the old red rooster when she comes,
We will kill the old red rooster when she comes,
We will kill the old red rooster,
We will kill the old red rooster,
We will kill the old red rooster when she comes.

We will all have chicken dumplings when she comes,
Oh, we'll all have chicken dumplings when she comes,
We'll all have chicken dumplings,
We'll all have chicken dumplings,
We'll all have chicken dumplings when she comes."

I've never heard these verses before now, but they're in several versions of the song that I've looked up. According to the information I've gathered, "She'll Be Comin' 'Round the Mountain" originated as a slave song that referred to the Apocalypse and was titled "When the Chariot Comes." Later, it was used at rallies in Appalachian coal mines during the labor movement and was modified. I don't have any other evidence aside from snap judgment that these two verses are referring to communist China, I mean, "the old red rooster" could be the foreman at the mines or something (the chickens in a coop are kind of at the mercy of the rooster, right?). So it could be spun either way. . .

drunken nonsense
