The header will be my new address on june 1st.

In my search for a place to live, folks were so helpful. There were actually quite a few places to choose from, 3 to be exact. it was quite hard to decide because all the houses to choose from were populated with people that are my friends. I wanted to live in all the houses at the same time! (nice problem to have I guess). either there is nothing or too much to choose from I reckon is the law of things.

The Ferndale house currently houses 3 people and I will be an addition, making the total 4. Jenn Gibson lives there and she is the one who let me know about the room. The room has so far been a study/den and so the rent is understandabley very low. it is 9f by 8f by 9. It's a cube. While it does clock in as a smallish locale, ive lived in smaller and it does have a delicious window facing east for morning sun. I decided on this place based on pictures Jenn sent me. the kitchen is above average goodness, there is a great back deck, back yard, bike rooom, washer-dryer room, weird old victorian couch, and its all second floor located, so a lower possibility of fraser-valley mould invasions. I love the neighborhood too. its a few blocks west of nanaimo, and few south of hastings. its tripping distance from tempelton park and tempelton pool. in the other direction is the hastings-sunrise area with its mini chinatown, and proximity to the wall street bike path leading to new brighton pool/park/ocean front.

Its proximity to the drive is quite good. no as good as one of the other places I was seriously considering, but oh well.

one of my new roomates is named Adrian. So my ever shifiting moniker will be more cemented as Prawns whilst aboding in this house.

Yesterday I began reading "The Wild Body" by Wyndham Lewis. He was a contemporary of T.S. Eliot. The first story in this collection of short ones, is called "the soldier of humour." its a character sketch of a french traveler who is a self described laughter barbarian who, having no interest in art, sex or violence, basis his ultimate purpose in living on his "laughter drive." He spends some time discrediting Freud, (I do enjoy a good freud discreditation), and then first-person narrates his detailed encounters with people he meets on his travels.

I am eating a banana at the moment.

I have been researching the hoteling business lately. its quite tough going, trying to see how it its that one founds a new hotel/pension. The zoneing rules for vancouver are intetresting. Yesterday I poured over the 10s of PDF's that make up the mess of codes that govern (everything) in the metropolis. strange documents those.

I know what frontage is now.

I have also been cooresponding with the UBC architecture MA/Certification program called SALA. I might have to take a physics class or two tho. their requirements are otherwise al]lready met.

Also in the works, and more central really, is an artspace/artbar/teahouse/saunahouse. Before that happens tho, a fundraising organization will be started. the main way I see it rasing money is throwing parties. I am lending a hand-rebuilding the monthy velofusion party this summer. Andrea, of the workless party giving me some of the reigns. I also will be hositing a few outdoor/renegade dance parties with a weird low-fi/performance twist made possible by low wattage radio transmitters and old sony technology.

I have figured out my monthy minimum income needed to float me through the summer. its low but I will need a part time joby. ideally I dont get a job and find other ways. I have a few ideas, I intend to make these work. If not, well Ill keep my sensorium peeled.

The banana is complete.
