I was yesterday in my Management class. It is an evening class that takes three hours, with fifteen minute breaks in between. I took the break to sleep a little, when I woke up to say hello to my friendly classmate.
With me I had a copy of this local free newspaper of Columbia called Free Times. Its back was facing up. My classmate noticed and said "You should not be reading this."
At the beginning, I thought it was some kind of a joke. I knew it was a woman in a bathing suit, and it was from
American Apparel but I really did not pay attention to it. Well, now I did. (And it is not in the website... I wonder why).
It was a twelve tl 14 year old girl with a black sexy bathing suit in two very suggestive poses. I was disgusted. And so was my classmate. We showed the picture to some of our classmates, and finally to our professor, who says. "I don't buy from American Apparel nor from Abercrombie and Fitch for this very reason. They have both being involved in controversies and the president of [Pekky does not remember which of the two] says that 'if you don't like the announcements, don't buy our clothes.'"
DISGUSTING!
And looks like other readers have
addressed the issue before!
And I mind you, maybe you have the right of freedom of speech, to have ladies in bathing suits for beer commercials because it appeals to men (although I am not sure if I support this either), and whatnot. But limits are limits, and I believe that announcements like those of American Apparel have crossed them!
