No, I am not making a review of this album. I am going to talk about some decisions.
In Social Work, there are two concentrations for the advanced year: Micro and Macro. Micro Social Work is devoted to work with individuals, families and groups. Here is where clinical social work, counselors and caseworkesrs come. Macro Social Work on the other hand, involves organizations and communities. It involves advocacy (in a large scale, that is) lobbying, planning events, organizing communities to empower themselves... Even international Social Work.
I want to do both. Ideally, I would manage to do classes of both. But I only can choose one concentration.
Considerations go on what is the least limiting of the two and which one will give me a work permit for the time being (remember I want to settle in the US.), both of which are important. Talking to others, the obvious choice seems to be Micro, but I feel that if I choose it, there are so many macro skills that I want to learn through classes and I am going to miss. I also have to make this decision before friday, because on friday there will be a career fair going on, and I have to pic an internship according to my concentration. But I guess if this is the case, I will start with micro and work my way up. I also want to have a few certifications under my belt that enable me to do macro even more.
At times, I think I prefer Macro. It's not like I don't like micro, but the idea of empowering communities and lobbying seems way more appealing to me.
That's life.
