you dun gone and made me weeble again...

i finally saw a full version of 5cm Per Second on tokyotosho and snagged it as fast as i could. cripes...as if the first part of the movie is beautiful, heart wrenching and weebly when i first watched it, now i could see the other two bits as well! while i'm not bawling, there were definately tugs at the heartstrings and a bit welling up. this man is too goddamn good at his job. considering he has done the same theme (love, time and seperation) with just about all of his movies, it never FEELS exactly the same when you watch each of his movies. just ugh...it's overwhelming with the beautiful animation, use of music/silence and the feelings of the characters. many enthusiastic thumbs up from me. must have dvd.

in the category of anime movies, it was a bit back but i also watched Toki o Kakeru Shoujo, which is kinda like...Groundhog's Day meets Butterfly Effect, without the whole insanity/extremely troubled, psychopath 'friend' thing. basically, girl finds out that she can 'time leap' one day and of course, starts abusing it for small, petty-like things for her benefit. of course, good ol' cause and effect kicks in and she learns that her actions start messing up things for people around her. it's rather amusing to watch her abuse it at first because she really does use it for silly things and how she 'jumps out' from the leap is great as well. XD the animation is pretty good, amazing in a few parts but for the most part, just up-to-date average. in any case, i do like the movie quite a lot and would definately recommend it, even if it's not as spectacular as 5cm. :3

lastly, i guess Mamoru Oshii decided he wanted to do his own little Fantasia-like project and made Mezame no Hakobune. it's pretty much like watching those weird CG movies that were set to electronica music, except that Mamoru chose to use the creepy chorus of ladies singing music for his. probably not the best thing to watch on an acid trip. just...weirdness.
