it died with its zoom lens sticking out, never to go back again

the weekend wasn't entirely good. i dropped it on its head and it hit the base of the lampshade. it was a gift for graduating college and it's been such a good little camper. i'm going to miss the little kodak. now the bother of picking out a new one. we're considering the Fuji Finepix F700. i'd rather just get the D-70 but the funds aren't ( Read more... )

our camera had different light settings: tungsten, daylight and fluorescent. that was really handy for picking out certain colors of fabric. for instance, i took the above photo on the daylight setting. it makes skin turn red but it captured the blue color of the flower perfectly. even though it was a 3.1 mp its photos were good enough for my purposes (which mostly is taking images of my sewing projects... as you well know.) i also took the above photo without a flash and in low light. i sure wish i hadn't have dropped it on the lamp base. it makes me so sad. but it was 2.5 years old so i guess it's about time to get a new camera. (we still have our old-old digital camera... so i can still take crappy photos if i'm feeling the urge.) i'd really like a digital camera with lots of manual options such as exposure, light and flash settings. i never take photos without fucking with all the settings first. i have two 35mm cameras but film is so tedious. i have at least 5 rolls of film at home sitting in a neat row waiting to be developed ( ... )

If ya know someone with a costco card, they're running $489 with tax. And you will be able to adjust the light settings you mentioned, (known as white balance) This cam is a 6.3MP and CAN deliver quality shots. I use and would highly suggest investing in high end quality rechargable batteries, mine are 2300mH..

As for the 'memory stick', Costco also has BOTH types this cam can use. Yes, you can use 2 different types of cards, both the CF and xD cards. I would suggest the CF's, for if you move into a Canon or Nikon later, the cards should work in those cams as well (the CF cards run about $50 for 512mb, which in laymens terms means in the 6.3 jpg setting, you'll shoot 338 pics per card, or 38 in RAW format)

I'll a few these photos as pop-up links, but these were shot taken with the Fuji S7000
