I think writing is the hardest medium to communicate what you really think/mean without sounding trite.

i feel that way a lot--like it's all been said before. and so then when you want to express even the most basic human emotion you feel like you have to entertain someone with something new; somehow you must structure your thoughts in such a way that readers (even if there are none--and this is usually the case) will not only empathize and relate, but will appreciate that no one else has ever worded it quite so eloquently. and that's stupid! and think of all the poor writers that have been overlooked by society, living with the most curious and almost downright seductive kind of depression; these are the ones that write just to fucking write and because they lack the motivation to finish the story or because they spiral into alcoholism and can't publish anything more, they die alone and ignored and few will ever realize how amazing they are. and it's really just a tragedy.

this um, rant or whatever was surely spurred from the fact that i have gulped down a 40 since arriving in livejournal land, and am currently reading a great book by henry roth and am rather intrigued by henry roth which prompted me to google him whereupon i grew sad about great works of literature that get neglected and how it almost seems like there would be more to write about if we lived in the past because no one would have said it yet. or we'd have more of a chance to make it less trite, you know?

so uh, anyways, i'm in another one of my insane 12+12+12 hour shifts so i'll be (and currently am if that wasn't obvious) exhausted and crazy the next few days, but then we must hang out soon! i don't know why we never do, you're really just down the street and that is silly. i'll uh, end there.
