So......
The move didn't happen today, and here's why:
On Monday night, I went to U-Haul's website, and made a reservation for a truck for today. Tuesday morning, I get a text stating that I can pick up my truck on Saturday morning at 10AM in West Islip. I call to confirm and I'm told I can pick up the truck as early as 9AM on Saturday. So last night after I get home from work, I spend my entire evening packing up my things and dismantling shit left and right so I'm ready for my move today. Around 7:30 this morning, my friend Michael shows up, and we go and grab breakfast. I show up at the pick-up location at 9, and I'm told the truck isn't back yet from the last run. Ok, means I gotta wait about an hour. 10AM rolls around, and still no truck. At this point, I decide to call U-Haul and find out what's going on. They tell me that my reservation was for 2PM, not 10, which I find to be a crock of shit. They then tell me it should be back by 1:30. So Michael and I head back to his place to play a quick round of Nintendo Wii and wait it out. I get a phone call from the pick-up location, and the guy tells me the truck will be back between 11:30-12PM. We head back to the pick-up location, and still no truck. I'm then told that the pick-up location got an e-mail stating that my reservation had been moved to another location, another lie. I get back on the phone with U-Haul, and they now tell me that there should be a truck available between 1:30-2PM. More waiting in the parking lot, great. Finally, at 2PM, I've absolutely had it because I've now wasted my entire Saturday and no truck has shown up yet, so I call up U-Haul, bitch them out about this, and promptly cancel my reservation. So now, I'm sitting in my room, with the only functional pieces of technology being my laptop and alarm clock, while the rest of my life is surrounded by me in boxes and stacked all throughout my living room. Looks like I'm going to have to spend another week living like this. Ugh.
