When I started listening I had no idea I would end up taking notes. :)
Overall that was a lot of fun. I am so very impressed that you took on Diamanda Galas. I love her music. Though very much an acquired taste, she really gets inside me. Major kudos. I think that just might be my favorite.
That Celine track is now listenable. I cringed when she initially remade it. I even boycotted the original remixes. I couldn't stand it. Outside of Roy Orbison, the only version I liked belonged to Miss Lauper.
On the "who da funk" track, I need to know if there is a bit of sampling from LaTour's "Blue". The repitition in the begining screams of that track to me.
The Michael McDonald was fun. In the beginning I wasn't so sure the direction. The pay off was well worth the wait and I found myself jamming in my chair. Same with the Mr Mister track. It was cool enough to be different but not odd enough to be unlistenable.
The Mad Mix was fantastic and I would pay you for a copy. Would be awesome for cycling with. (and probably dancing around my home to as well). Like I said, overall it was damn good. I hope to get the privilege of hearing you live at some point. Until then, I will look forward to more posts like this one. As it stands I will be listening to this a lot more.
Oh, one thing. You did a fantab job on Kelly's "shoes". Did you ever hear the parody, "Brains"? Would be a killer halloween time exchange. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1R-V846_Mm8
Thanks again for sharing the tunes!! I look forward to more!
Are you KIDDING me? Of COURSE, I found that Shoes vs Brains vid, and I even made a post about it.
Unemployed right now (in the F/T, M-F sense), I really do appreciate your willingness to purchase a copy of the Mad Mix XXI CD. Send me an email to DJMadAdam AT livejournal DOT com and I'll forward you the mailing address and costs, and all that.
I'm very flattered you took the time out to listen to all this and to even provide such detailed feedback. Thank you.
