I enjoyed it too.

Yes, my suspension of disbelief fell completely away at the golden arrow.

People's working assumption seems to be that Missy adds people who sacrifice themselves for the Doctor, in which case the Sheriff wouldn't count?

r.e. Missy - yes, that's a good theory, and if that's the case then the Sheriff wouldn't count. Still interesting that the spaceship was heading for The Promised Land, but I'm not sure what it means.

Miller looked so Masterish that for a moment I thought I was about to have my current second-favourite theory of the plot in this season overturned (that Scary Poppins in the garden is going to turn out to be the Master).

Yes, although of course the Master is 'generic villain' enough that any suave bearded antagonist of the Doctor's is going to risk seeming a bit Master-like.
