Holy Crap it's County Band Day!
.....and thus begins my 2 weeks of hell. :)
But ya know, I expected to be a lot more nervous than this. I've never conducted a band this size before (107), and all my fellow directors will be there observing. I actually got close to 6 hours of sleep last night, I've been really studying my pieces for a few weeks now, so I guess all I have to do is show up and make sure the warm bodies on stage can actually play them. :)
So it will be a long day, but hopefully a fun one. I can't wait to actually conduct Malaguena, one of my ALL TIME FAVORITES!!!!!!! And thanks to Adam for giving me an arrangement of it for just this occasion. I met with my co-conductor for breakfast yesterday, he's such a charming little man, and the fest is actually held at his school, so he's done a ton more work on this than me. But I think we're going to work well together, we appear (at least on paper) to be organized and have the same ideas about how the day and the show should go.
So yeah..............county band. It's also sort of the "beginning of the end" of the school year for me. Once I get through this, I only have 5 more shows to go. yeah, I said 5. But I can't think about THAT today. :)
