"I bet it looks crispy in the dark..."

I got a sweet new keyboard. I liked my previous Logitech 510 keyboard, but the editor key layout just bugged me when I was coding. Anyway, I'm selling it along with my old computer, so I was in the market for a new board. Logitech just released their "Illuminated Keyboard" and it is pretty awesome. Check it out. Everything I need, nothing I don't, ( Read more... )

Kinda pricy, although I did end up spending far more on my Happy Hacking.

(I wasn’t going to, but it seems that there isn’t anyone who makes a plain keyboard that’s simply missing the number pad. Having the mouse at just ¼ of the normal distance from the keyboard is priceless.)

Microsoft does make this keyboard which is a full size 104 key with a detachable numeric keypad. It does have all sorts of other crap on it, though.

Yeah, that’s still a pretty big keyboard due to all the frippery and gratuitous padding. Compare with what I have - it’s just three hands wide. It wouldn’t have to be quite as small for me to consider it, but that Microsoft keyboard just wastes too much space.

That is a bizarre layout. Kind of like a compacted Sun-style keyboard.

I just bought that keyboard myself, not two weeks ago. It is indeed very nice. I had to talk myself into spending that much, but I have not regretted it. Good key action for gaming, too.

Yeah, me too. I figured that a nice keyboard was worth the cost, though, and I expect this keyboard to follow me through a couple of computer upgrades. I like how the keys have a good amount of travel, which is surprising, since the keyboard is so thin. The aluminum keyboard for my mac is actually thicker. I also like the font they used on the keycaps. Little changes in scenery are so refreshing.
