We were gifted with a turtle while I was at work yesterday.
It's one of those weird things, but turtles and tortoises make me immensely happy. I've never owned one though because I know they can be finicky eaters and a problem to care for. And I've killed cactii by not watering them enough. However my girlfriend has years of experience as a pet store manager and is doing all the maintenance, so i don't expect him to die anytime soon.
The cats approve of the new addition. Well, Millie does. He sits and stares at the tank. Occasionally he'll slowly put a paw up to it. Not his regular quick attack, just a laaaaaaaaaaaaazy pawing at. We decided that the turtle needs a renaming ("Tito the Turbo Turtle" is what it came with) and allowed Mills to do it. After all, we bought Millie to keep the other cat entertained, and now he has apparently called dibs on the turtle, so it only seems fair that he get to name it. Thus far he seems to have decided on Squeak - but we're going to go with Squeaks instead. The plural is more edgy and therefor clearly superior (yes, I know we could go with Squeakz, but that "z" would push the edginess to too high of a level for a mere turtle to contain.)
