My mom was kind enough to have the kids spend the night on Valentine's Day. She even let us drop them off early so we could go hiking. We went up to the Bowater Pocket Wilderness and hiked for about four hours. We saw and heard a bald eagle on the way up. That was amazing. When we got to the overlook PA pulled out a box of chocolates and we sat on a rock, munching and admiring the view.
We had a great time and he took lots of pictures that I will have to post. I love that we could enjoy the great outdoors and still carry on a philosophical discussion regarding the works of Whedon, Lucas, and Roddenberry.
We ended up going a little over four and a half miles. We dragged our tired bodies back to the car and then went to Moe's for burritoes. Yum. After hot showers we purdied up and went to JJ's Bohemia for some good-then-bad-then-good music and people watching. It was good to see battlepenguin , as always, though I did miss the chance to prove to subrock that my husband actually exists (since I usually show up by myself).
Afterwards, we grubbed at City Cafe and had the best waiter ever! I might be a bit biased, though. :)
