In more happy news, last night
angry_wolf and
grendelsm came over for dinner, and we ate scrumptiously. We had rolladen (which for those of you who lack German ancestry is a thin slice of beef with mustard, onion, bacon and black pepper rolled up and then braised for an hour and then served with gravy) and mashed potatoes.
I also tried my hand at an apple crisp for dessert, and I think it turned out pretty well. I can pretty much always trust Ina Garten's recipes, of which this was one. Yum yum yum. I'll definitely have to make another soon - it's so easy and so perfect on a cold night.
I love sharing food with people that I love - it really is my principal joy in life right now.
I also made a lariat necklace and earrings (can't remember if I mentioned that or not) with blue lace agate briolettes and moonstones the other day. I really am proud of them, even though they're very simple. I think I'll work on another set tonight - I have a bunch of ideas for these pretty rustic millefiori beads that I have.
The rest of Sunday was spent tidying up and making my house feel like a home instead of a giant sty - and it worked - I feel much better about it. We also have heat again, which is AWESOME.
So yes - amidst the bother of the family and money situation, I'm still trying to be creative and productive and engaged.
