... multi-fandom ...

I don't really like short-short stories in general, but there are exceptions. I do like happy endings, but there are exceptions. I'm pretty fandom-specific and OTP-obsessive, but ... yeah, you got the idea.

So, last year, there was 101 Ways To End Up In A Canadian Shack. I'm not sure if it started as a challenge or a joke or whatever. I do know that it ended with 30 authors, 62 fandoms, and 386k of fast, furious, funny snippets, all variations on the theme of ending up in a Canadian shack.

This year, taking LiveJournal by storm, has been The Inappropriate Elf Challenge. It happened sooo fast, just in the past couple days. It's not even a full week into 2003. You get the feeling that this is gonna be a weird year?

60 authors, 75 fandoms (unless I counted wrong) -- The Inappropriate Elf Challenge.

Do I want to see this form take over fanfic? No, definitely not. I still yearn for the long, plotty epics. But, for an exception?

These are darned cool. And a lotta fun. I even got some of the in-jokes in the fandoms I'm ignorant of.

So, yeah. Rec time. Go, read 'em now. Marvel at the insanity that is fandom. Giggle with me and the authors.

And realize with me that Speranza (aka cesperanza) is a dangerous influence on the gentle souls that inhabit LiveJournal-land. (I mean, she wrote *clown* fic and I read it and enjoyed it. And ... me ... clowns ... not so much the liking. In fact, the hating and screaming and running away. There are *many* reasons I love Xander....) And I'm thrilled she's here. Even if she has no idea who the hell I am.

(ps ... the lj spellchecker wants to change "speranza" to "superman" ... that wacky spellchecker, what'll it come up with next?!)
