Sorry for the length of this post in advance. *g*
This is the end, my beautiful friends, the end...
Just kidding!
By now, you've all heard that the VERY LAST (supposedly) Harry Potter book, The Deathly Hallows, will be released in mid July of this year, BEFORE EDIT: AFTER the Order of The Phoenix movie arrives.
Interesting timing, don't you think? <---still is.
In any event, my take on it is this:
♥ If you love the Harry Potter books as I do, which I suspect is the case for most people on my flist, then that love will not just *disappear* the day the last book comes out. If I had a nickel for every time I've re-read this series, or the Lord of The Rings books, or the Narnia series, and loved them all over again, I'd be travelling to all of the HP cons this year, with money to blow.
It won't just end.
♥ Add to that, the movie franchise which has only just finished the FIFTH movie. FIFTH. You know what that means? TWO more coming! Yeah, that's right. Over the next couple of years, we will be amazed and awed by Warner Bros with both The Half Blood Prince and The Deathly Hallows. As I understand it, despite his forays into cutting edge career moves to avoid becoming Mark Hamill, Dan Radcliffe has signed on for at least the next one. (On the subject of Dan's new pictures: I think they are great promotional photos for this play, I consider him good-looking, and I don't associate them with Harry Potter at all. Satisfied?)
It's all good. But, will fandom die? I dunno.
How's the Star Trek fandom doing? Smaller fandoms such as LotR? Buffy?
♥In closing, I would just like to reassure those of you who are panicking right now that although many people may lose interest in fandom once the canon is gone, they were likely never all that interested to begin with, yeah? Or had been slowly leaving already, and are looking for an excuse to break free for good. This will not be me. Though we all definitely have a fannish obsessive streak running through us, mine is very strong. Very, very strong. As evidenced by my still-fresh-after-30-years obsession with David Cassidy. *smirk*
In other news:
I have interviews featured in both the following podcasts released today:
SNAPECAST EPISODE 12, featuring an ALL SNARRY Valentines Day special, as well as
SPELLCAST EPISODE 16, the
Fiction Alley podcast. Evidently, our recent fight over a certain community's name change has drawn some attention. Go have a listen!
One last thing:
I flew the
crack_broom this month for the first time ever, reccing

That's all, folks!
Cheers!
