i used to make around 30 bucks in change when i played accordion in the nyc subways. not bad considering I'd only play for about 20 minutes. the other day, through terminus i made 20 bux for a 20 minute performance.
this is a MUCH higher rate than I am gonna get from the phd shit. I am gonna have to shell out around 500 bux to attend a conference that I have been accepted to. i work my ass off to sell software to MTV and see around 20 K total.
seriously there is a very clear lesson here. working in the tech track is a big fucking carrot constantly being dangled in front of your face. with all the inferred costs of being savvy, having the latest know how, and the rest you get drained of life and barely have money.
i leave for mexico with karyn on wednesday. i am tempted to stay.
