Today was painful. Thankfully in a literal rather than figurative fashion. Even though my quads hurt like woah all day, I still managed to bike to and from work. The one really good thing about it all was realizing that my joints didn't hurt, as they tend to be the weakest link. And my knees were twinging a bit while I was running. No major harm done, apparently.

I heard from several people that there was a police sting in Ladd's Addition today to catch cyclists who didn't come to a complete stop at the roundabout. And the tickets were $250 each. While yes, the cyclists were technically breaking the law, it's not very helpful in terms of encouraging cyclists to use the designated bike route on Harrison. One of my coworkers said flat out that he'd just start taking Hawthorne, traffic be damned (I do this every day anyway). Don't the cops have real crimes to be protecting us against?

Walking to New Seasons this evening was gorgeous. All of the flowers and trees are blooming right now. The entire neighborhood is colorful. I love it all, even the tiny little blue bells. I'll almost miss this when summer comes and everything fades to green. At least I'll have the rose gardens in Ladd's Addition to console me. Further, my new backpack is hells of comfortable and Miles Davis was the perfect accompaniment to my walk.

Taxes are finally done. I'm not going to get back nearly as much as I thought I would, but it'll still make for a tidy sum that should add a decent chunk of change to my savings account. Which will be ever so helpful come this fall.

frustration, biking
