WHOA.

All I can say is WHOA.

Defense was total total total stress, but the excellent news is my memory didn't fail me for the performance, and for the defense, I did not let them stump me once. I felt like one of the old school Cathedral debaters the way I was not letting them trip me up. I was fighting for my life in there. I never realized the defense was going to be so antogonistic, but I was not a wimp. When it came to the part when they told me to leave the room so they could discuss my defense, I went out into the hall, and as we were in the Art building, I stared at this crazy crayon thing drawn on wood. I hummed and covered my ears as I could still hear them talking. I must have put myself in this weird sub-trance because I didn't notice Professor Gorden came out into the hallway to get me. He had to tug my arm. He handed me the paper which said I was 'successful' with my defense, and I went all noodly and numb. I was like a major chakra opening thing, to be very Zen. In tons of pain, I walked to the English department and gave my form to my advisor. It was a very fatiguing walk, but not because of the effort...it was more like the walk I'd been waiting to make since I started grad school. It was almost like getting married.

As they grilled me for so long, I only had an hour before my interview to get into the scholarship class. Shawn met up with me and took me to that lovely westside cafeteria. Then it was back to school--actually Jamocha's--for the interview. It went well! I walked out of there feeling great, and sure enough, they called me back. I was accepted!

And the good new continues...Shawn went for a job interview at Coronado and was hired! Yeah! Good going, Bear.

Bad news--I am in terrible pain. I am ready to hit the hay. But I am happy over all. YEAH! YEAH!
