Yesterday was busy.. Busy enough that for the first time, I wore down my cell phone battery in less than 12 hours. I was playing the in between person on several things from the new house to utilities to Cam things.
I finally got up to
wendy_lady's place and got her all the stuff that I had for my jacket. It looks like we will start working on it

I think I have reached my limit on the "It's *just* a game" sentiment. If this were *just* a game there wouldn't be 5000+ people playing it simultaneously, if this were *just* a game it wouldn't being going strong since 1997 (this chronicle at least). This is a hobby or a recreational activity, and it takes commitment like any good hobby. Next time you visit you grandmother or aunt find that quilt or afghan they have been working on for the past 10 years and rip it to shreds and see how they like it when you tell them that it was *just* some synthetic fiber.
A lot of people put a lot of effort into this club, including you Juan, as well as Chuck and many, many others, and the saddest thing I see is after all the work, some 18 year-old-pimple-faced-shit-head comes along and says that this is all *just* a game and who do they have to blow to get their MC 15 too?
At some point we need to grant ourselves a sense of legitimacy. Even the SCA gives itself more respect than we do. We have to embrace the fact that we are more than *just* a bunch of gamers, that we have never been *just* a bunch of gamers. We just need to figure out what it is that we are. Until that point, all of us who hold positions will take what the nay-sayers spew forth as at least a bit true, even when we know, or should know, better.

My efforts in the club come from me wanting to make those efforts. Almost my entire social group is made up of Cam members or former Cam members. If people started quitting in droves, I would probably still play, but I would probably become a hermit for a while and find something else to do. While you analogy is a bit more graphic than I would have put it, I do agree with you.
As for your last comment, I am not sure if I can answer any of those questions. I know the route that I am going to take in Seattle, and everyone might not like it, but I am done having people treat each other like crap and expecting to get away with it. I expect a higher standard I guess and do not want to be considered part of the lowest common denominator. I expect more of people, I guess. Acting like a kid is okay everyonce and a while, but some of us are getting a little to old to put up with it all time.
Thanks for the bluntness.
